It’s completely normal for sexual desire to come in waves. Some days you can be ready to pounce nonstop and on other days the craving flat out isn’t there. The good news? You’re human. Things like stress, major life changes, and diet, among other mental factors, can all play a role when it comes to … coming and all things pleasure.
I typically have a pretty high sex drive (which mostly includes self-pleasing since I’m not in a relationship atm). So for me, one of the first signs that I’m not feeling myself (no pun intended) is when I have not a desire in the world to play or phone my hookup. Sound familiar? Ahead, I’m sharing ways I’ve climbed out of the sexual slump to shift my mindset and get in the mood.

Clear some headspace. Whether it’s an upcoming work deadline or an overwhelming amount of stress, it’s incredibly hard to get in the mood when something major is on your mind. This one is easier said than done, but do your best to let go of whatever is taking up valuable (sex)capacity for the evening and enjoy a much-earned release.
Lie on your back with your knees up and move your hips around (kinda like you’re doing the deed). Don’t judge me on this one, but by opening up my hips, it helps to get my body and libido moving in the right direction. For a more formal pelvic floor routine, try these three hip exercises.
Listening to spicy songs can really make things throb if you know what I mean. Start a playlist to pump up your mood and allow the lyrics to let your mind go to all the right places. “I Wanna Sex You Up” always does it for me.
A little lingerie always sparks joy for me. It’s an easy way to make me feel sexy. Speaking of rather vain but confidence-boosting actions to get in the mood, self-tanner and a quick hairdo (this style only takes me less than 10 minutes) are foolproof ways to make me feel better and ready for a night of passionate play.
