We know that patience is a virtue, and Rome wasn’t built in a day—blah blah.
But sometimes, you want evidence that the blood, sweat, and tears you’re expending are worth it, especially when it comes to your workout. Nothing short of a filter can instantly change how your body looks, but some exercises can help you feel more toned overnight.
Amanda Lee, a celebrity personal trainer, is here to help.
Although her moves are proven to work, they aren’t a magic pill or one-size-fits-all. She wants people to know embracing differences in their bodies is important. “Depending on your body type and genetic makeup, certain areas will be easier to tone than others,” she says. “For example, you might have super toned, lean legs with some extra weight on your tummy or vice versa.”
She says that because everyone’s body is unique and different, our bodies respond to exercises in different ways. But Amanda believes that HIIT or cardio-based workouts are one of the best ways for anyone to feel more toned ASAP. “High-intensity activities help you lose excess water weight to debloat and look leaner faster,” she explains.
Amanda shares some of her favorite, toned-AF, ASAP moves below.
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, bend your knees into a squat while pushing through your heels, and then jump up. Land softly and repeat for 20 reps.
Push-Ups with Mountain Climbers
Get into a plank position, and then lower yourself into a push-up. When you come up, drive each knee separately toward your torso, keeping your abs engaged. Repeat for 20 reps.
Weighted Step-Ups with a Shoulder Raise
Hold two dumbbells, and step onto a bench with one leg. Once you have lifted yourself up, raise the dumbbells above your head into a shoulder raise. Lower your arms, step down from the bench, and repeat with the other leg.
Skull Crusher with Leg Raise
Lay on your back, with your legs straight and lifted slightly above the ground. Slowly lift and then lower your legs. Next, reach your hands towards the ceiling with your arms straight before bending both arms into a 90-degree angle, bringing your hands towards the back of your head in a skull crusher exercise. Alternate these two exercises for 20 reps.
For that extra dose of snatch, Amanda has a couple more tips that go beyond the gym.
- Stop eating carbs after 2:30 pm. “This will give your body a chance to burn off any carbs you ate earlier and help you debloat overnight,” she shares.
- Get adequate sleep, and drink tons of water. This is another key element to feeling taut by tomorrow. Amanda says, “Staying hydrated can suppress your appetite, boost your metabolism, and make you feel fuller longer. It also helps flush out waste from the body, helping you debloat.”
