Vegan restaurant options in 2015: tofu, lettuce, water. Vegan restaurant options in 2022: chicken and waffles, chili cheese fries, sushi. As more people explore plant-based eating, places are serving up options beyond just plain tofu and veggies. Don’t get us wrong, we love tofu and veggies—it’s just that we didn’t make the effort to put on hard pants and actually leave the house to eat food we could make at home.
While we’re beyond thrilled at all the delicious vegan options available to us, especially in LA, it has created one teeny-tiny problem we didn’t anticipate: deciding where to eat is a lot harder. Thankfully, Kourt came to the rescue and was kind enough to share her and Travis’s favorite spots for tasty vegan fare—plus exactly what they like to order.
The Restaurant: Crossroads Kitchen

Kourt: “A lot of people don’t realize it’s vegan when they first visit, because the food tastes so much like the non-vegan versions (it’s honestly magic—who knew non-dairy cheese could taste so good). All of the plates are shareable, so bring some friends and try it all! PS: it’s coming to Calabasas soon.”
The Order:
Romaine Caesar Salad (made GF)
“So refreshing. We love the caper berries on top.”
Fried Olives
“This used to be a secret menu item, but we ordered them constantly, so now they’ve been added to the official menu (you’re welcome).”
Squash Blossoms
“Just divine. Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside.”
Piccata (tempeh)
“This feels like you’re getting really healthy protein. It’s rich but still light and tastes so good.”
Chili Cheese Fries
“If you want something that feels a little naughty.”
Matcha Latte + Brownie Sundae
“We always end our meal with a matcha latte and the brownie sundae. The brandied cherries on top are delicious.”

The Restaurant: Health Nut
Kourt: “Quick, easy, healthy lunches for meetings or workdays. If you really want to shake a salad like me, this is where to go. (;”
The Order:
High Protein salad (made vegan)
No tomatoes, no chicken (sub avocado), no cheese. Here’s how you can recreate it at home.
Iced Mango Green Tea
“If you’re really looking for a treat, the iced mango green tea is addicting.”
The Restaurant: Ma-Kin Vegan Sushi
Kourtney Kardashian Barker
Kourt: “OK, I wasn’t sure if I was going to share this one, because it is my go-to secret sushi spot. But we’re all about sharing secrets over here at Poosh, so here you go! No frills, just a cute little vegan sushi spot in a strip mall. Everything is amazing, but here are our favorites.”
The Order:
Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice
“A classic but make it vegan! You’d never know the difference.”
Sashimi Salmon on Rice
“A work of art. It looks just like the real thing.”
Six Seven Roll
“Tempura shrimp and crab topped with so many goodies like avocado, spicy mayo, etc. I love that it has a little crunch.”
Miso Soup
“I really love miso soup, but some miso soup isn’t vegan, so I always make sure to order it when I’m here.”
Iced Matcha Latte
“Of course.

Kourt: “Another option where the vegan food tastes so close to the non-vegan versions. This time it’s diner-style: fries, burgers and sandwiches, floats, etc.”
The Order:
Chicken Sandwich
“So crispy and delicious. The house pickles are addicting.”
Travis’s Oat Matcha Latte Shake
“You know I love anything matcha-flavored. Travis’s shake started as a limited-time collab, but now it lives permanently on the menu.”

Kourt: “Travis introduced me to this restaurant. We love to stop by for breakfast.”
The Order:
Breakfast Burrito (add the sauce from the Bagel Sandwich on the side)
“This was actually a mistake the first time we tried it, but the sauce is kind of sweet, and it’s so good. Now we’re addicted—we get the Bagel Sandwich sauce on the side every time!”
Matcha Bar
“They have these specialty matcha drinks that are insane. My favorite is the regular matcha, but once in a while I’ll get a fun one like the lavender.”

Kourt: “We love the chef here, Chef Ido, and we will eat literally anything he makes us. The plant-based dishes are so creative … every single thing he brings out is yummy.”
The Order:
Vegan Chicken and Waffles
“The spicy maple glaze is my favorite part.”
The Green Pyramid
“I can’t even describe this dish. It’s living wild rice and so cool.”
Matchas and Shakes
“I order Trav’s Matcha for obvious reasons.”

Kourt: “For a date night, we love to drive down the PCH to Lucky’s Malibu (their Santa Barbara location is also a fave). The portions are huge, so they’re perfect for sharing.”
The Order:
Impossible Burger (extra pickles, no onion, no tomato)
“This speaks for itself. The extra pickles are a MUST.”
Sweet Potato Fries
“To die for. They give you a literal mountain of fries.”
Hot Green Tea
“To balance out all the greasy food. ;)”

Kourt: “I grew up eating at this restaurant with my family, and now we love to order it for family dinners with our kids, so this is a sentimental one for me. It’s my comfort food.”
The Order:
Hummus with Pita
“This is a must. The hummus has just the right amount of lemon and garlic.”
Sarma Grape Leaves
“This is such a classic Armenian dish, and here they make it so flavorful.”
Cabbage Salad
“This is my fave. It’s so simple and refreshing.”
Spinach Fatayer
“You can’t go wrong with these little savory pies—the filling is so delicious and fresh!”
Muhammara
“I love that this has a sweetness (from the molasses) to balance out the spice.”
Pickled Turnips and Olives
“When you eat at the restaurant, this is one of the first things they bring out. I could eat the whole dish!”
The Restaurant: Non-Vegan Sushi Restaurants
Kourt: “If you can’t make it all the way to Agoura for Ma-Kin, or are dining with friends who aren’t vegan, you can still eat vegan at sushi restaurants. We often order these items at Nobu or Katsuya, but most sushi restaurants can accommodate!”
The Order:
Edamame
Spicy Avocado on Crispy Rice
“Or just plain avocado if they can’t do spicy avocado!”
Artichoke Salad (no cheese)
“A lot of times they can modify their other salads to make them vegan too, but if they have artichoke, that’s our favorite.”
Avocado and Cucumber Cut Roll
“You can’t go wrong.”
Miso Soup
“Traditional miso soup isn’t vegan (it’s made with dried tuna flakes), but not every restaurant uses that, so you can always double check!”
