The one way to keep summer with you all year long? A good tan.
Frolicking outside in a bikini year-round isn’t an option for everyone (Kendall may disagree), but that doesn’t mean you can’t maintain the sun-kissed skin of summer when fall comes
Isabel Alysa is the founder and CEO of self-tanning brand Dolce Glow, as well as a spray tan artist for bronzed beauties like Selena Gomez, Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus, and more. It’s safe to say she knows what she’s talking about.
Below, Isabel shares her five best tips for maintaining your glowing tan after summer ends (yes, SPF is still required).
“Hydrated skin is happy skin, and happy skin holds onto that tan,” says Isabel. “So first things first—grab that cute water bottle, and keep the hydration flowing!”
2. Moisturize like you mean it.
“If there’s one thing I’m absolutely obsessed with, it’s a luxurious moisturizer,” she shares. “Moisturized skin not only looks healthier, but it also holds onto that sun-kissed glow we all adore.”
“Be gentle on your skin,” Isabel advises. “Use lukewarm water instead of hot, as hot water can strip away your tan. Avoid harsh soaps and opt for mild, moisturizing cleansers. Pat yourself dry instead of rubbing. And remember, long baths can also expedite tan fading, so keep them short and sweet.”
“Summer might be over, but that doesn’t mean your tan has to fade away,” declares Isabel. “I’m all about embracing self-tanners! Gradual tanning lotions, mists, or serums can work wonders in extending your tan’s life.”
5. Sun protection—even after tan.
“Sunscreen is still your best friend,” Isabel emphasizes. “Even if you’re already tan, UV exposure can lead to skin damage and premature fading. Grab a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a suitable SPF to shield your glow from the sun’s effects.”
