We talk about bloating quite a bit here at Poosh. We’ve shared this list of supplements and these exercises to help reduce the excess buildup. We even revealed Kourt’s new de-bloating massage routine and how to practice the treatment at home. So yes, we’re all for finding ways to alleviate the discomfort that can be caused by many factors. One of which is excess water weight.
Edema is the formal name for this uncomfortable condition, which can trigger bloating and overall puffiness in the body. Some facts for you: on average, up to 60 percent of an adult body is water. Anything above that can lead to unwanted “water weight.” Of course, it’s commonly suggested to drink (at least) eight glasses of water every day to stay hydrated and healthy. But what to do if you’re feeling the weight (pun intended) of extra fluid in your body? That’s what we’re discussing today.
With the help of Detox Massage Creator Rebecca Faria, who recently worked on Kourt, we’re sharing at-home ways to lose water weight and prevent recurring water retention in your body.
Tip 1: Drink Water
“If you’re constantly dehydrated, your body tends to retain more water in an attempt to prevent water levels from becoming too low.”
Tip 2: Exercise on A Regular Basis
“The contraction of large muscle groups like the arms, legs, and glutes forces excess fluid to be eliminated through your urine.”
Tip 3: Take Probiotics
“Probiotics replenish scarce nutrients in the body, helping the intestine to work faster and retain less water.”
Tip 4: Avoid Unhealthy Foods
“A high salt/sugar intake (usually due to a diet with lots of processed foods) will definitely increase water retention.”
Tip 5: Do A Sweat Detox with An Infrared Sauna Blanket
During each session, you can burn real calories (not just water weight), which of course leads to weight loss. Through sweating and detox, the heated blanket helps to burn fat and mimic the results of exercise.
Head here for the complete list of benefits and how to use the infrared sauna blanket at home.
