Living rent-free in our minds: Miley Cyrus’ toned arms at the Grammys.
Needless to say, we were inspired to up the ante on our upper body workouts. And this quickie routine from Lia Bartha, founder of the intentional Pilates movement known as B The Method, fits the bill.
In the video, she leads us through a six-minute workout that opens up the chest while working the arms, shoulders, and back (with a little deep-core bonus). Even though it’s a short workout, Lia says not to power through the movements. Instead, focus on deeply activating the muscles and moving with intention.
Ofc, aesthetics aren’t the only—or even the most important—benefit of this workout. Tight chest muscles limit mobility and negatively affect posture. Chest-opening exercises help improve both. In addition, strengthening the upper body helps improve coordination and balance, prevent injury, and boosts the metabolism.
