Happy cozy girl fall to all who celebrate. 

As we begin to switch out our tumblers of iced refreshments for mugs of steaming bevvies, there’s no better time to share this amazing ginger tea recipe. Stacey Bendet, the creative director and founder of Alice + Olivia, drinks it nearly every day, and she was kind enough to tell us how to make it. 

“I love making fresh ginger tea. It’s amazing for digestion, congestion, and immunity,” Stacey tells us. It’s the rare beverage that is both calming and invigorating, and it’s caffeine-free so it can be enjoyed any time of day. 

The recipe takes a little bit of patience, but the steps are super easy and the resulting bottle of concentrated lemon ginger tea makes multiple servings (and lasts for up to a week in the fridge). 

Not to mention, using fresh ginger root just hits differently than powders or tea bags. (It also tastes way better.) 10/10 worth the extra effort.

Stacey Bendet’s Ginger Tea Recipe 

Recipe Type:Drink

Ingredients:

Fresh ginger root (approximately 4-5 inches)
3 tablespoons mint leaves (optional)
5 fresh lemons
Manuka honey
Monk fruit sweetener (optional)
Cayenne pepper (optional)
Extra mint leaves
Extra lemon slices

Instructions: 

Ginger:
1. Peel fresh ginger root, and boil two to three hours in water until soft. 
2. Let cool, and reserve the ginger water.
3. Slice the boiled ginger root, and puree in a blender with one and a half cups of the reserved ginger water. If your puree is too thick, gradually add more of the reserved ginger water.
4. Optional: Add in three tablespoons of mint leaves and puree.

Lemons:
1. Juice five fresh lemons, and remove any seeds.

Tea: 
1. In a large bottle, combine the ginger puree and lemon juice. Store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
2. To make the tea, combine three tablespoons of tea mixture with one cup of hot water in a mug.For stronger flavor, add more tea mixture.
3. Add one to two tablespoons of Manuka honey (This has incredible health benefits!) or one teaspoon of monk fruit sweetener to taste. 
4. For extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
5. Garnish with the mint leaf and lemon slice.
This recipe yields one bottle of concentrated Ginger Lemon Tea.
