New Year, New (Anti-Aging) MATCHA LATTE RECIPE

I’m no newb to matcha. While Poosh feeds and enables my addiction—er, love—matcha and I have been together for a long while. I’ve been through many iterations of matcha lattes throughout the seasons, always perfecting the creaminess, the nutrient profile, and just generally mixing things up.

This latest version is my new go-to for some major immune and longevity benefits, but I’ve just learned that it’s ideal for photo-aging prevention as well. The magical additions? Astragalus and moringa.

I recently read the book Healing Adaptogens by Tero Isokauppila and Danielle Ryan Broida, which details adaptogenic properties with such clarity that it immediately removes the sense of overwhelm and empowers me to feel like my own little herbalist.

Astragalus extract contains a compound called TA-65 that is not only a supercharged immune booster, but also helps protect cells from DNA damage for a literal anti-aging effect.

Moringa contains an insane amount of antioxidants, carotenoids, essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, which support basically every function in our body. And its high levels of vitamin A help our skin glow.

Follow my recipe below for your next-level healthy matcha latte:

New Year, New Matcha Latte Recipe

Recipe Type:Beverage
Dietary Info:Vegan, Gluten-free
Serving Size:1 Serving
Prep Time:5 min
Total Time:5 min

Ingredients:

8oz hot (not boiling!) water
½ tsp ceremonial grade matcha
1 tsp moringa powder
1 tsp astragalus powder 
1tsp honey
1oz coconut milk—check your ingredients first. I like this one.

Optional: Top with cinnamon and pink salt.

Instruction:

1. Bring your water to a simmer, or boil it, but make sure to let it stand for three minutes, so it cools to a safe temperature. (I hate to damage the beneficial properties in herbs and my beloved matcha!)

2. Add your matcha, moringa, and astragalus powders, and whisk. I prefer an electric whisk to make sure all the powders don’t clump together. Add more hot water once it’s blended, and incorporate once more.

This can also be enjoyed cold if you prefer— just add more cool water instead of hot, and pour over ice!

3. Add your honey and blend again, topping with coconut milk, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and pink salt for a little contrast. Chef’s kiss.
