Welcome back to our latest series, #PooshWellnessWednesday, where we’re highlighting how different women in the industry celebrate self-care and what it means to them. We kicked it off with Kourt’s wellness routine (if you missed it, find out here). Up next? Miranda Kerr. Read on to learn what the mom, model, and founder of KORA Organics’ self-care routine looks like.
“Wellness to me is about a holistic 360-degree view to looking after yourself emotionally, physically, and spiritually, and finding what works for you because we are all different. Finding balance in all areas in my life is important—including setting aside time for myself to do things that bring me joy. That way I feel that I can give more of myself to others or what I happen to be working on at the time.
I generally follow an 80/20 rule, where I make healthy choices 80% of the time and then make indulgent choices 20% of the time. That way I’m not depriving myself … because if I do, it naturally makes me want it more.
My certified organic skincare range, KORA Organics, is also focused on enhancing overall wellness. We believe the health of our mind, body, and skin are all connected. Our philosophy at KORA is: feed your MIND with positive affirmations and self-love, feed your BODY with the nutrients it needs to function at its best, and feed your SKIN with products to help detoxify, nourish, and revitalize.”
“Celery Juice: Every morning on an empty stomach, I drink at least 16 ounces of organic, cold-pressed celery juice. Celery is amazing, as it’s a powerful anti-inflammatory, supports kidney function, is alkalizing, and is also full of electrolytes. I feel it really helps my digestion, brain fog, and energy levels.
Meditation: Regular meditation helps me stay calm and centered. I try to meditate at least twice a day—morning and night—and sometimes during the day when I can. In the morning, it helps me to set my intention for the day, so I start the day with a positive mindset. During the day, it helps me re-center and re-focus so I can best navigate through any challenges, and at night it’s great to let go of the day and unwind for a deep, restful sleep. Recently I’ve learned Kriya Yoga, which is an ancient meditation technique of energy and breath control. I also practice TM meditation, and sometimes I’ll do a guided meditation. I like to switch it up based on how I’m feeling.
Dry Body Brushing: Each morning before showering, I dry body brush. I find it’s the best way to help get the circulation going, remove any dead skin cells, and energize my body. I start at my feet and move up my leg with quick strokes, then gently on to my arms, brushing toward the heart. After my shower, I apply a combination of Noni Glow Body Oil and the Enriched Body Lotion all over. Then I also apply a layer of Noni Glow Body Balm on my belly, breasts, and hips, as I have just given birth and those areas need a little more nourishment and hydration since they are more prone to stretch marks. I repeat this again in the evening after I have bathed.
Regular Skincare Routine: In the morning, I use the KORA Organics Foaming Cleanser—it’s a soap-free cleanser that doesn’t dry or strip the skin of its natural oils. After cleansing, I use the Energizing Citrus Mist to tone my skin. Next, I apply the Noni Bright Vitamin C Serum—I recently launched this product, and results are incredible! It contains a 12% Vitamin C Super Complex made with Kakadu plum, acerola cherry, orange peel, lemon peel, and noni extract. It’s helped me so much with my pigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles. Then I apply the Noni Radiant Eye Oil, followed by the Hydrating Moisturizer mixed with several drops of Noni Glow Face Oil all over my face, neck, and décolletage.
I’m obsessed with our Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask and use it three to four times a week as a facial scrub and mini mask. It’s like an at-home facial in a tube as it brightens, deeply cleanses, reduces any inflammation, and evens skin tone. I love to use it in the shower in the mornings as the peppermint aromatherapy is so invigorating and uplifting. It contains the naturally active AHAs of papaya enzymes and aspen bark to promote skin cell turnover, and the rosehip seeds and quartz particles provide a deep physical exfoliation.
In the evenings, I double cleanse using the Cream Cleanser—it’s very nourishing and soothing on the skin and also awesome to gently remove makeup. I swap out the Energizing Mist for the Calming Lavender Mist (I also spritz this on my pillow before going to sleep), then follow with the remainder of my routine (Noni Radiant Eye Oil, Noni Glow Face Oil, and Hydrating Cream).
Every night as the last step in my routine, I apply my new Noni Glow Sleeping Mask. It’s a multitasking overnight face mask that’s more hydrating and restorative than a regular night cream. It dries as a clear, translucent veil so it won’t rub off on your pillow! It contains silver ear mushroom, coconut milk, caviar lime, Kakadu plum, and natural hyaluronic acid, which really plumps and hydrates your skin to lock in moisture and help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. I wake up in the morning and my skin is plump, glowing, and radiant!
Facial Massages: Another step to my morning and evening beauty routine is our heart-shaped Rose Quartz Facial Sculptor, which harnesses the ancient healing technique known as gua sha. It’s a rose quartz heart-shaped stone used to massage your face and neck to stimulate circulation and reduce puffiness while lifting, toning, and sculpting your face. I use this technique daily for a five-minute facial massage with the Noni Glow Face Oil, as it also helps it absorb deeper into my skin.
Exercise: I also think it’s important to exercise regularly and to move your body, so I try my best to schedule in some sort of exercise three to four times per week at a minimum, even if it’s just for 20 minutes. I like a mix of Kundalini yoga, Pilates, and swimming—these exercises are gentle but great at toning and elongating the muscles.
Me Time: I feel it’s important to take a little time each day for yourself. For me personally, I find if I can take 15 minutes to do a meditation, or set aside some time to exercise, I feel much more balanced and am able to give so much more to my family, work, and friends.
Prepare for Sleep: Sleep is so important for our overall wellness. Incorporate a little nighttime ritual to help yourself wind down from the day and to encourage a restful night’s sleep. I like to do a meditation, turn off the Wi-Fi, and then mist my face and pillow with KORA Organics Calming Mist, as the aromatherapy is very soothing and relaxing.”
