I love trying new skin treatments, so when I heard about a cocktail of peptides that’s applied via microneedling (my favorite), I jumped at the opportunity to try it.
I learned about MesoGlow from my friend and skincare expert Kristina Kitsos. The MesoGlow treatment (which is different from the Korean includes 23 skin-boosting peptides, minerals, and vitamins (including niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and glutathione) to increase hydration, improve skin firmness and elasticity, and promote collagen production.
There are different versions of “Mesoglow” out there. Some use a hollow syringe to inject the skin whereas Kristina opts for non-hollow medical microneedling needles. This causes a slight injury to the skin, prompting it to respond by making new, collagen-rich tissue.
The process is noninvasive and fairly quick. Kristina applied some numbing cream that we let sink in for about 15 to 20 minutes. She then started with the actual treatment and went over my face with the microneedles. I was pretty numb during the treatment, but I wouldn’t describe it as painful (though everyone has different levels of sensitivity). I would compare the sensation to rubbing sandpaper along the skin. All in all, the whole thing took about 30 to 40 minutes.
I was a little red for the first day, but immediately saw a difference in my skin. I love the results. They are noticeable for a few weeks after the treatment. The downtime is minimal, and within a day or two, your skin looks incredible. My complexion was luminous, and my skin seemed smoother and tighter. I’ve gone back for more treatments, and my skin continues to improve each time.
I’d recommend this to anyone who has wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, acne scars, or just wants a little complexion boost. Kristina suggests three to four treatments over the course of a year to see the best results.
This is such a great noninvasive treatment that won’t totally break the bank. It’s the ultimate high-maintenance-to-be-low-maintenance treatment.
