When we think of our fitness goals, a lot of us envision svelte, carved-out muscles at the end of our journey. We wince, thinking of all the crazy-intense cardio workouts and body-builder-level weight machines we’ll have to endure at the gym; fast-paced, punishing classes; and buckets and buckets of sweat. But what if it doesn’t have to be like that?

No judgment if that’s totally your thing. But at Poosh, we like to work smarter, not harder … emphasis on the smarter. Lia Bartha, founder of the intentional pilates movement known as B The Method, is all about slow, controlled movements and alignment. “The only way to find length, strength, mobility, and definition is through proper form,” Lia tells us.

“I feel like this is the best-kept secret in the health and fitness world. Improper form will inevitably lead to underwhelming results, bulking from overworking certain muscles, and, worst of all, injuries ranging from back pain to pelvic floor dysfunction. I created B The Method after years of either torturing myself with excessive cardio or distracting myself with loud classes led by untrained teachers. Because the truth is, without proper form, you may get your sweat on and burn some calories— but you’re missing out on an opportunity for real results and a full mind-body workout. If you tune out the noise, listen to your body, and exercise right, I promise you’ll feel the difference, see the difference, and won’t get injured in the process.”
