The foundation of a happy and healthy lifestyle starts with a positive morning routine. I do everything I can to set a great tone for my day by focusing on my mind and body.
When I first wake up, I try not to reach for my phone immediately and pause for a silent moment of reflection. I even changed my alarm tone to a more peaceful song – I’ve found that the default alarm tone is almost traumatizing and can start my day off on a hectic note. I change the song pretty frequently to switch up my vibe.
Take a peek inside my morning routine below to learn how I start my day off right:
The first thing I do each morning is get down on my knees and pray. I like to do this in my bathroom so I can look out my window, take in the blue skies, and connect with nature. It’s really important to me to express gratitude for God’s blessings, and ask for health and happiness for my family. I keep the book Jesus Calling open on my bathroom counter at all times.

It’s a devotional filled with inspiring scriptures for every day of the year. These short and sweet passages are an easy way to stay spiritually connected. If my kids are up, I’ll read this in bed with them. Religion and spiritual status aside, it really fills up my soul to take a moment to reflect and set a positive tone for the day ahead.
Before heading downstairs, I throw on some workout clothes so I can go straight from carpool to the gym. This easy step saves me a ton of time (and unnecessary stress), and keeps me comfortable for the drive ahead.
Homemade apple tea is my wellness staple that I drink every day for a dose of nutrients. It’s full of organic, immune-boosting ingredients like turmeric and ginger. Here’s the step-by-step recipe. It makes for a great (and natural) way to awaken your system, and I bring it with me for morning carpool.

I cherish this time with my kids every morning. I make sure their backpacks are in the car the night before so we can have a stress-free morning. We always listen to this Positive Morning Playlist as the soundtrack to our drive (Good Morning by Kanye never fails to get us in a great mood).
I try to carve out time for a workout six days a week. It’s essential for making me feel balanced, happy, and confident. Exercise gives you endorphins and endorphins make you happy – it’s almost like a form of meditation or therapy. I really try to listen to my body for what type of workout I need, and I alternate between my trainers Amanda Lee and Coach Joe depending on my vibe that day. I think having two different trainers helps me stay engaged so I don’t get bored. If I’m short on time, I’ll do a quick set of at-home exercises.
My post-workout tradition is always the same. I prep and drink my go-to avocado shake like clockwork. Here’s my current rundown:
- To help my muscles recover faster and aid in digestive health, I use one scoop of protein powder with bone broth.
- One frozen stick of E3Live + BrainOn, which promotes a balanced mood and increased focus and clarity.
- One serving of collagen powder.
- Half a teaspoon of MCT oil for an instant source of energy. MCT oil is also believed to help your body achieve Ketosis (the process at which your body burns fat for energy).
- The last product I drop in is a teaspoon of this Hawaiian spirulina, which helps tone skin and boost radiance thanks to the wide range of nutrients like iron and chlorophyll (to name a couple).
