These days, every beauty guru out there talks about layering oils and moisturizers, but I’ve never really been a moisturizer person. Lotions and creams tend to be too much for my skin, clogging my pores and making them seem larger and even giving me milia under my eyes.
I have always wondered how to keep my skin plump and hydrated without using moisturizer, and actually always been warned by dermatologists not to add any moisturizer to my skin. In the past year I have become a huge fan of hyaluronic acid after trying it. I would layer it with a toner, followed by a vitamin C serum and my sunscreen that contains hyaluronic acid too. But even all these layers can feel too heavy at times for my skin, so I really wanted something that did it all for me—clean ingredients for hydration and antioxidant power, but not heavy, oily, or creamy.
When I finally decided that something up to my standards just didn’t yet exist on the market, the Poosh team and I got to work formulating our collab with Hora Skin Care, the Hyaluronic Halo + CBD serum, and it’s finally ready. It’s the oil-free, antioxidant-rich, and vitamin-loaded hyaluronic serum of my dreams, and it’s packed with incredibly clean ingredients.
It literally took us 12 iterations to get the formula right, so I hope you’re going to be obsessed. We were really rigid about every detail when it came to consistency and texture, but also subbing out toxic ingredients and finding the cleanest options. We worked closely with EWG (Environmental Working Group) and were able to get a score of 1 (best scores are rated with a green “1”) on the EWG scale, which was incredibly important to me.
If you’re like me and like to keep your skincare steps simple, I think you’re going to absolutely fall in love with the Hyaluronic Halo + CBD serum. My favorite part about the finish is that it makes bare skin look glowy, so it really enhances your look on no-makeup days.
Because these are clean ingredients, you want to store the serum out of direct sunlight or too much exposure to heat—I just keep it in my drawer. As long as it’s in a medicine cabinet or out of the light, it should be protected from environmental damage, but a bit of color change is normal. As the clean ingredients get exposed to oxygen, it will turn a bit golden, like white tea or apple juice. It can also get a bit thinner if your bathroom gets too hot and steamy, but just shake it up.
Also, I’ve been really into microneedling, a treatment where tiny needles make small punctures in your face, stimulating collagen production. I usually do it in combination with PRP (platelet-rich plasma), where you have to draw your blood at a doctor’s office. They use a roller with needles that are 1.2-1.5 mm, which can be painful (some people even use numbing cream, but I don’t). I have been so impressed with the results: more even skin tone and texture, minimized pore size, and decreased visibility of fine lines.
When Hora decided to launch an at-home derma roller, my team and I knew it was something we wanted to put the Poosh name on. Ours has smaller needles—0.3 mm—so it can be used at home, as long as you don’t have active acne, eczema, psoriasis, or any other skin condition that could be affected by small puncture wounds. Not only does it save a trip to a doctor or medi-spa, but our at-home derma roller can be used up to two or three times a week and, when combined with our Hyaluronic Halo serum, the results are truly remarkable. It works to help this amazing serum and any of your other favorite products penetrate deeper, and gives your skin a smoother look and feel. While you don’t need a day of downtime with our derma roller, it’s important to only use the roller at night so that any redness has time to fade and you can wake up looking plump and fresh. It’s also very important to follow up with SPF the next morning (I hope you’re doing this daily, anyway!), as skin can be a bit more sensitive.
Since using the combination of derma roller and Hyaluronic Halo + CBD serum, my skin has never looked better. I’m so proud of these products, and I can’t wait to hear what you guys think.
