Traditional energy bars are packed with an unnecessary amount of sugar and sneaky carbs, meaning that when you think you’re opting for a quick pick-me-up, you’re actually fueling your body with ingredients that will ultimately cause you to feel sluggish by the end of the day. We teamed up with Nikki Elisheva of My Sweet Belly to share her recipe for no-bake keto protein bars with maca, so you can treat your body and taste buds to a healthier, homemade alternative. “As a superfood, maca is great for energy and pre-workouts,” she explains. “It has an earthy, caramel flavor. These bars taste like chocolate chip cookie dough; for more of a chocolate flavor, add 1 tablespoon cacao and sweeten with keto maple syrup to taste.” Read on for a nutritious recipe that only takes 5 minutes to assemble.
