If the thought of applying lashes seems daunting to you, let today be the day you finally nail the beauty trick. With the help of Kourt’s makeup artist, Patrick Ta (who recently launched a collaboration with House of Lashes), we’re revealing tips to help apply the perfect lashes—once and for all.
First things first, Patrick starts by double curling Kourt’s lashes and then applies two coats of mascara to her top and bottom lashes. Once the mascara is dry, he’ll apply House of Lashes x Patrick Ta, “I like to start by using tweezers to carefully release the lash band off the packaging so you don’t shift any hairs. Then I start by generously coating the lashes with glue, focusing a lot of the glue on the inner and outer corners as well as on the top of the lash band, to ensure they won’t move throughout the day. Be sure to wait for the glue to get tacky before applying. I find it easiest to apply the lash to the center of the lid first and use the tweezers to gently place the ends perfectly on each side. This step is really important in making sure your lashes look as natural as possible and do not make your eye look slanted or drooped,” Patrick explains. If you’re just looking to fill in negative lash space, he recommends sprinkling in short and medium individual lashes.
“I also like to take a pair of tweezers and gently clamp both real lashes and false lashes together so there is a seamless blend,” he adds.

Before you perfectly apply the reusable lashes, Patrick has one more token of advice to keep in mind: “A common mistake I see is people either not cutting the lashes to fit the shape of their eye or cutting the wrong side. If you change the shape or style of the lash by cutting them incorrectly, you may lose the style of the lash and change the look entirely! l like to cut off any excess part of the lash before applying so it’s super comfortable on my client’s eyes.”
