We’re not in Calabasas anymore.
Well, we are, but the second we step from the paved driveway that bridges between Khloé’s and Kris’ homes, we enter a classic English garden dreamscape that is Khloé’s backyard.
Stone paths give way to citrus-lined walks through beautiful trellises that lead into a rose garden dripping with potato vines and blossoms, purple wisteria, and the heavenly scent of roses for the whimsical look that Khloé loves. It actually seems like you’ve been transported to a rose garden across the pond.
Khloe tells us, “For the longest time, I have always been in love with the full, overgrown look of an English garden. My gardens represent the magic in my mind and bring me such peace. They’re this beautiful wonderland in my own backyard.”
And to Khloé, roses mean one major thing: LOVE!
“Roses are the flower of love, and I am all about spreading love and kindness into the world. The energy you put out is the energy you get back. Why not surround myself with that in flower form? My gardens are full of love, and taking a stroll through these rose trellises with my children are some of the sweetest moments I can have with my family.”
The feeling really was one of great care and tenderness. Although the garden is manicured and layed out beautifully, it still has an air of wildness in the tangled vines that are left to grow as nature wishes. This creates a relaxed, natural environment that reflects the love the garden embodies.
Khloé’s feelings on the matter bring that feeling full-circle:
“Landscaping, gardens, Mother Nature—it’s all so special in my mind. In my opinion, flowers have been a universal symbol of love and appreciation since the beginning of time. Not only do flowers create a romantic ambience for your home, but they also bring life to everything around them.
“I value the delicate side of Mother Nature. I love that I can create a fairytale space by choosing flowers, ivy, and trees that I gravitate to, and I can create this in the comfort of my own home. And all of that is through nature. Flowers and trees respond well to love, music, water, and sunlight. It’s another reminder that everything around us is living and willing to thrive as much as you are willing to give.
“When building my dream home, I wanted it to be a refuge for me and my family. It was designed to be my little heaven on earth, and I wanted it to offer beauty and healing to anyone who enters. I always knew I wanted this energy to continue into my outdoor living space too, and it’s just as attractive to me as any other part of my house. My home is my place of zen and serenity, and it attracts the energy I want. When my friends and family visit, I’m so thankful to share this with them and to have a space for making many happy memories.”
We feel so lucky to have experienced this joy with her!
As for Khloe’s vision, her landscaping designer Jim Hyatt and his team helped bring it to life. Khloé tells us, “I am a meticulous person, so each part of my house, right down to the ground covering, is selected and approved by me. The people I work with really know how to take my ideas and make them a reality. I’m so proud of what we were able to accomplish. Every sunset and picture of my roses is a gentle reminder of the beauty that exists.”
