When and why did you start your company?
“I founded Ardor Bin in 2016 and launched our online platform in 2017. I had a strong desire to participate in zero-waste initiatives and to do a complete overhaul of the products that I was using in my home. I’m a huge candle lover, and I quickly realized that there were not many options on the market for healthier, sustainable candles.”
What has your career path been like?
“My career path has been an enriching and enlightening experience. Prior to founding Ardor Bin, I worked as a creative writer and artist, so the trajectory of my path has always involved creativity and innovation. I’ve spent the last three years perfecting fragrances, building a solid team, finding our brand voice, and ensuring that we are using plant-based materials and processes that we can be proud of.”
What’s the core mission of your brand?
“Our first goal is to offer plant-based alternatives for candles, room sprays, and other fragrance-based products. All of our products are infused with natural essential oils and a coconut/soy wax blend. We have eliminated the use of toxic ingredients in our product line by looking to nature in our candle-making process. Our core mission is to build a community that focuses on advocating for more natural products to be at the forefront of the conversation in regards to product development and customer experience.”
What’s your favorite scent that you sell and why?
“It’s always difficult for me to choose a favorite scent. I love them all, but I do make choices based on my mood. When I’m looking to unwind with a fresh and calming scent, I burn ‘Eucalyptus Rain,’ and I burn ‘Orchid Dream’ when I want something a bit more sensual and floral based. I will add that ‘Botanic Forest’ is almost always in rotation in my home. It’s a woody scent that’s well balanced and sultry.”
What has surprised you the most since starting your company?
“I’m always surprised and humbled by the outpouring of support from our customers, and the overwhelming number of individuals who share my passion for a health- and wellness-based lifestyle. I quickly learned that there really is a growing desire for transparency and communication between brands and their customer base.”
What’s a lesson you’ve learned as a founder?
“Being a founder is definitely a tremendous learning experience. I think that the most important lesson is to stay true to your vision. Every brand and creative process is unique, and I’ve learned to allow my own creative vision to shine through in every aspect of my business. As a founder, it’s important to have a concrete understanding of your goals and your reason for starting a business. How can you have a positive impact on the lives of others? It’s a question that drives me every day.”
What can we expect in the future for Ardor Bin?
“There are lots of exciting things in the works for Ardor Bin. We are focusing on expanding our product line to include a full range of wellness-based products for home and body. All of the new launches will be an extension of the scent collections that we currently carry. In the near future, you can expect to see Ardor Bin in a greater number of retail locations as we expand to the United Kingdom, Canada, and Europe this fall.”
