Dance like no one’s watching? Try TikTok like no one’s watching.
It’s not as easy as it sounds, but Sabrina Bahsoon, aka Tube Girl, has pretty much made a career out of it.
You probably know who we’re talking about—the confident bombshell who films herself lip-syncing on London’s tube with plenty of onlookers and without a care in the world. She’s inspired others to follow in her footsteps, but plenty are still wondering “how?”.
Building up confidence looks different for everyone, but if we were to ask someone for tips, it would be Sabrina. So that’s exactly what we did.
Below, check out some of Sabrina’s tips on how to get Tube Girl-levels of confidence.
“I’ve always been dancing, loving music, and feeling like a menace in general,” says Sabrina. “In terms of confidence, I think this grew from a place of gradually realizing that I had to stop caring about people’s perception of me and start chasing what makes me happy.
“Easy ways to boost confidence are to listen to songs that really hype me up, be around my friends, and gradually put myself out there,” she says. “Over time, you start to realize that being unapologetically yourself is a great thing, rather than something to be scared of.”
Fake it ’til you make it.
“[On off days] I put on my headphones, play music I love, and just dance to get my body moving,” she says. “If anything, I fake it until I make it.”
“I think that the most important thing to gain confidence is to realize that nobody actually cares,” she adds. “They can call you ‘cringe’ or ‘embarrassing,’ but really, that’s just them judging you enjoying yourself. I think you should just zone out of what people think and not be judgmental yourself. Keep your focus on what makes you happy and what you enjoy.”
