Since today is the last official day of summer, we’re giving good reason to enjoy everyone’s favorite seasonal fruit with this full-body detox. We’ve shared our top DIY wellness shots and today we’re adding to the at-home concoctions with this simple watermelon detox juice.
Watermelon has many health benefits: it’s a low-calorie fruit and is packed with detoxifying properties. Since watermelon is 90% water it’s a great source of hydration for your body and is rich in fiber, which helps to flush out toxins.
The start of a new season is an ideal time to reset your mind, body, and wellness habits, which is why we wanted to provide everything you need to know about a watermelon detox. With any cleanse, it’s important to talk to your doctor first to ensure you’re a good candidate before drastically altering your diet.
Detoxifying: As we mentioned above, the juice will help remove toxins from your body.
Fights dehydration: Since the base of watermelon is water, your body will be properly quenched and your skin will have an added glow.
Increased sex drive: It contains citrulline, which is a compound that helps the body relax blood vessels and in turn boosts blood flow.
More energy: Thanks to vitamin B-1, you’ll have more energy and a clear state of mind.
What you need:
1 cup frozen watermelon
1 cup frozen strawberries
¼ teaspoon of chia seeds
Drizzle of honey
A squeeze of lime juice
Blend all ingredients and enjoy!
Some people do this cleanse for three days straight, but we recommend starting with a one-day cleanse to see how your body feels. If you’re feeling good and up for it you can continue for two more days and slowly add in a source of clean protein like lean chicken or salmon for lunch and dinner.
