Think about what turns you on. Is your first thought romance? A dozen roses, a gushy Instagram tribute? Maybe it’s sexual … lingerie, buzzy toys, a super sloppy makeout session. What if you could shift your ideas about turn-ons and center them around yourself? Your well-being. Your abundant future.
What drives human motivation is the payoff, and the payoff is usually some kind of pleasure. And it’s OK to find pleasure in, well, the obvious little pleasures. Those things enrich life and add excitement, joy, and satisfaction in the moment, and at Poosh, we live to be mindful and in the moment. But what if what really got us hot was our creativity, ideas, and the momentum of our future plans?
The theme of this year’s Poosh Your Wellness Virtual Festival was Future You, because we want gearing up for our future to be our real turn-on. When we feel energized by our potential, we become empowered and unstoppable. We stop letting fear cripple us in our path to what we crave and deserve, and we start putting in the work to get there. That’s sexy.
So what does this look like? Start with writing it down in one of our many amazing journals. We’ve curated such a selection because journaling is an entirely personal, intimate practice that we do with ourselves to help us see ourselves more clearly, understand our boundaries, and realize our true, deep needs—so the right journal is imperative. When we truly get to know ourselves better, peripheral stressors melt away and we can zero in on what makes us our best selves. Feeling warmer yet?
But it doesn’t stop there. Consider your morning meditation. It’s so easy to think about the tasks for the day ahead, emails you need to send, conversations that need to happen, deadlines that need to be met. Those tasks aren’t going anywhere, so try shelving those thoughts and really sink into yourself. Try breathwork, and feel your body while you breathe. See where you expand and contract, and think about how you want your life to expand.
Build on it. Make it visual. Put your free time in the evenings into creating a vision board. It doesn’t have to be a massive cardstock sheet you have to get from the craft store—stick things right into your journal for reference. After your morning meditation, review your journal. Your own story is the most interesting book you’ll ever read, because you never know what’s on the next page, but you’re in control of that narrative. And that feeling is downright STIMULATING.
That’s where we take it to the next level. Embody that energizing feeling of expansion, control, inspiration, and action, and take it inward … back to pleasure. Orgasms increase oxytocin and reduce cortisol, which is responsible for that post-O glow. They increase circulation and lower pain. They boost your immunity and your confidence. So for your next morning routine, open with your meditation, review your journal and vision board, and give yourself a ride on your favorite toy for a super inspiring energy explosion. The deepest intimacy is with yourself, so own your turn-ons and watch them grow. The future is sexy.
