When and why did you start your company?
“We launched officially in 2017 but spent two years prior getting to know our customer needs first. I have sensitive skin and desperately needed a better solution to ingrown hairs and razor burn. I was intrigued by the fact that women had only plastic, throw-away options for razors, while men had such a bevy of choices, including more sustainable options. I wanted to create the first experience of shaving that transformed it from a chore to a luxurious ritual, aligned with skincare.”
What has your career path been like?
“I started my career in fashion as an account executive, growing brands like D&G and Cavalli and later focusing on contemporary indie brands. I moved into beauty as an exec at Estée Lauder. As someone who loves the fine details of products and the process required to make a great experience, it was the perfect place to understand that path from conception to customer experience. I own very little makeup, but I’m obsessed with skincare, so launching OUI the People from the perspective of shaving through the lens of skincare came naturally to me.”
What’s the core mission of your brand?
“Our mission is to build transparent, healthy, inclusive, and exceptionally designed products that don’t compromise our customers’ sense of self. Our reConstitution of Beauty is a pledge to communicate with our audience with integrity, leaving fluff words like ‘flawless’ and ‘perfecting’ out of the language of beauty. We believe language plays a huge part in how we see ourselves, and we want to do better by this badass group of womxn.”
What has surprised you the most since starting your company?
“How few hours there are in the days now. On the positive end, what an exceptional community we have and how warmly we’ve been embraced by our audience.”
What’s a lesson you’ve learned as a founder?
“Don’t let anyone determine your highs, because they can determine your lows.”

“Expect more stellar bodycare products, surprise drops, reasons to find joy, and a skincare product or two! We aim to be a force in an industry that has long been made for womxn, but not necessarily a champion of womxn.”
