It’s pretty much inevitable that we’re grazing the kitchen more than usual while we’re all staying home right now. Whether it’s a pit stop to our pantry to distract ourselves from completing a work project or simply over-snacking throughout the day, whatever the situation is, we’re right there with you. To prevent eating out of boredom, today we’re sharing healthy ways to distract our minds during quarantine so we can stay fit and come out of this looking and feeling our best.
Remember though, it’s all about balance, so be easy on yourself. If you need some comfort food to get through the day, so be it. Don’t feel guilty about it—just set boundaries for yourself so it doesn’t turn into a daily habit. Learn our tips to help avoid constant snacking below.
-To squash a sweet craving, Kourt likes to sip on hot green tea or water with a splash of apple cider vinegar.
-Speaking of sweets, keep dark chocolate in your pantry or fridge and break off small sections when you need a dose of sugar.
-If you’re aimlessly perusing the kitchen after you’ve already had a meal, try brushing your teeth to avoid eating for no reason.
-Keep healthy snacks in your fridge like hummus and carrots or tomatoes and avocados.
-Do your best to steer clear from inflammatory foods like refined carbs and processed meat (to name a couple).
-Make a glass of chilled water and lemon slices.
-Eat items high in fiber so you stay fuller longer.
-Try to avoid eating food straight out of the bag or box. Instead, plate your snacks so you can properly portion your treats.
