Summertime usually means you can ditch your full-coverage foundation and scale down your makeup routine with lightweight essentials. The challenge is finding products that won’t melt off your face or seep into your mask. Here is a beauty routine that will have you looking fresh and won’t keep you too long at your vanity.
You already know—ehem, or at least, you should know—that the most important part of any routine is your base. To all the oily people reading this, yes you, you still need to moisturize. Skipping moisturizer will not only make your makeup look more cakey, but will give you wrinkles in the long run. Moral of the story? Moisturize your skin. Gel moisturizers are a perfect choice for the summertime, and my personal favorite is Belif Aqua Bomb. This moisturizer is basically the equivalent to giving your face a drink of water. Sounds amazing? It is. The gel-cream is guaranteed to make your skin look hydrated and glowy. Now comes the most important step—sunscreen—and trust me, SPF is a step you don’t want to skip. The Beet Shield SPF by KraveBeauty is rich in antioxidants, so it will do more than just protect your skin from the sun.
Now is the time where I tell you to put down your full-coverage foundation bottle and pick up Ilia’s Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 Foundation. This is a light-coverage foundation that will even out your skin tone and give you a natural glow. Pair it with Ilia’s True Skin Serum Concealer for immediate coverage and brightening effects from vitamin C. Ilia’s products are packed with skincare benefits, so basically, these two products will keep you looking good while doing good for your skin. Pulling in the eye area can cause wrinkles, so make sure to gently pat in your concealer, because frankly, there is no concealer good enough to cover wrinkles. I recommend using RMS Beauty “Un” Powder to set the concealer in place for a creaseless under-eye.
Cream products are an amazing way to keep your face looking natural during the summer, and thankfully they are much easier to touch up during the day. My current favorite cream blush is Tower 28 Beauty’s BeachPlease Tinted Lip + Cheek Balm in the shade magic hour. Apply it to your cheeks and dab a bit on the bridge of your nose to fake a day at the beach.
Add some bronzer to the perimeter of your face to get that bronzed summer look. My top pick at the moment is the Vesca Soft-Matte Bronzing Powder. Unfortunately, most bronzers have a limited shade range, but this bronzer has a shade for everyone—making it possible for all of us to achieve a sunkissed bronze. A little tip is to swirl some of your bronzer into the crease of your eyes to bring your whole look together and make your eyes pop. Plus, let’s be real, sometimes you just can’t be bothered with pulling out an eyeshadow palette and doing a full crease. It’s not a summer essentials list until you add a highlighter to the list, and the RMS Beauty Living Luminizer in the shade gold is at the top of my list.
The one step I will never skip? Brows. You know the nightmare everyone has growing up that they are naked in public? Yeah, well, I have that nightmare too, but it’s about forgetting to do my brows. EcoBrow’s Brow Defining Crayon is your secret weapon to making your brows look natural and full, and more importantly, they won’t melt off your face the second you step into the sun. Give your lashes a curl and apply your favorite eye-popping mascara. If you’re still searching for the perfect clean, long-lasting mascara, try out Ilia’s Limitless Lash mascara.
Of course, you can’t forget the lips. If you want your lip gloss to be popping this summer, swipe on a layer of Tower 28 Beauty ShineOn Jelly Gloss for some serious shine that lasts. Finally, set your look with Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir, and you’re ready to go.
