Baby, what’s your blood type?
Wait, wait, don’t tell me. It’s either A, B, or O of some kind. At least one of those. Really narrowing it down here.
How many of us even know our blood type off the top of our heads? Consensus shows that a whopping 33% of Americans don’t know what their own blood type is, and it’s not something your doctor typically has on file either!
(P.S. You can find your blood type with an easy at-home test, or they will let you know after you donate blood, if that’s something you’re able to do.)
When we aren’t talking about sex and vibrators in the Slack channel, we’re talking about wellness trends and deep-rooted science. Lately, the feed has raised some questions about eating for your particular blood type.
Is that the code we need to unlock to discover what truly works for us?
Previously, we dove into nutrition for individual blood types, and before you roll your eyes…we know, another diet. We don’t explore these diets for easy fixes or to get skinny quick, but to understand our bodies better and make lifelong changes to live a long, vital life. It’s about finding the right lifestyle change for you, not leaning into trends.
Just ask Harvard.
It’s endlessly frustrating to us when a friend can stay lean and toned while eating all the dairy and gluten, but we bloat up like a balloon. Or when they get indigestion after eating chicken, and we can eat it every meal. Eating for your blood type is an easy experiment we are willing to try in order to nail down our own personal biological blueprint.
Science tells us that there have been some success stories, but due to so many other varying lifestyle factors, we haven’t been able to draw conclusive answers around this diet theory.
Despite a lack of evidence on the effectiveness of a blood-type diet, we don’t see any reason not to experiment as long as you’re eating fresh, whole foods and an adequate amount every day. You’ll know what works for you.
We see this as an opportunity to explore your own unique biology. Dive into your ethnic backgrounds, discover the foods of your heritage, and see how it all fits with your blood type. You might surprise yourself when some different foods or protein sources become a major part of your rotation.
