About that road trip you’ve been talking about for the past year. It’s time to finally do it. To ease and encourage the process, we’ve started part of the planning for you with our Poosh-approved checklist.
Nothing hits like a quick road trip with your best friends, screaming your soul out to throwback songs, taking pictures in fresh outfits, making priceless memories, exploring a new city, and having late-night convos in your hotel room. It’s the perfect recipe for a weekend full of inside jokes and laughs so hard your abs will be sore when you get home. Plus, if you’re hesitant to travel still, it’s a great excuse to safely get away while avoiding massive crowds at the airport. We’re in, are you?
Ahead, our managing editor, Michelle Scanga, is giving a peek inside a recent trip she took to San Diego to get your road trip mindset rolling.
Ready, set, go!
Whether it’s a convertible or big SUV, it’s so fun to change it up and cruise around in a fancy new car. “I had the pleasure of driving a few of Bentley’s latest models during my recent road trip with them to SD. Nothing beats built-in navigation and seamless directions while you’re on the road. I drove there in Bentley’s Bentayga Speed SUV, and it was incredibly spacious of course, with plenty of room for my overnight bags. I even had the opportunity to test-drive their Continental GT Mulliner Convertible, which I highly recommend. Whipping around in a convertible is the easiest way to put a smile on your face and gain an instant dose of dopamine and serotonin to boost your mood. On the way home, I was in their Continental GT V8, which was so sexy and has a feature where you can turn a back massager on and off. Luxury (and self-care) at its finest.”

Wear a versatile driving outfit
Of course, comfort over everything, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your style. Luckily nearly every brand has cool athleisure options available, so pick your favorite matching set and hit the road. Once you arrive at your destination, you can change into something a little bit flashier.
Keep travel-size skincare in reaching distance
Mainly SPF here. We know you applied your screen before taking off, but it’s important (especially if you’re on a long drive) to reapply your protection throughout the day. When you’re driving, your face, neck, and hands are in direct sunlight (even if it’s not sunny). Pack a travel-size bottle in your purse or dashboard so you can easily re-up and avoid unnecessary sun damage.
Of course, pack all your everyday skincare essentials as well. Your cleanser, serums, and moisturizers are a must. Bonus points for packing (and actually using) face masks and body creams too!
Have a solid playlist ready
A good playlist will make all the difference and help the time in the care fly by. Curate a collection of songs depending on you and your passengers’ mood. We’ve got some ideas to get you started. If you’re going through a breakup, play this one; if you’re in a beast mode, this one’s for you; and for sing-alongs, this feel-good playlist is everything.

For your final destination
Stay at a cool location or property that’s been on your bucket list. Finally, book that room and enjoy a dreamy mini vacation. “I’ve had Rancho Valencia on my radar pretty much since I moved to Los Angeles, so it was such a treat to finally experience the resort. I felt like I had escaped to a gorgeous villa in Italy for the night,” Michelle shares.

And don’t forget to take all the pictures
Do it for the memories, even if you don’t plan on ‘gramming them. In a month or so, the throwback will pop up on your phone, and it will immediately make you smile. Plus, it may even poosh you to carve out time in your schedule for another road trip.
