When and why did you start your company?
“I founded Agrestal Beauty in March 2019. We just celebrated our second anniversary! It’s incredible to see how much has changed in the past two years. We have grown so much as a company—even more excited to see what the future has in store for us.”
What has your career path been like?
“Prior to founding Agrestal Beauty, I had roles supporting digital merchandising and marketing at Bluemercury and Macy’s corporate offices. But I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Even as a kid, I started a ‘nail salon’ for my family and friends—charging them a few dollars to receive a manicure. The idea of creating a skincare company formed after college. I started realizing the many harsh chemicals that are common in many beauty products on the market, and started researching ingredients to create natural skincare products. Soon enough, Agrestal Beauty was born.”
What’s the core mission of your brand?
“Agrestal Beauty’s mission is to provide all-natural and organic skincare products carefully crafted to empower women on a journey toward self-love. To be the best you can be, you NEED to love your body and yourself.
We design products that work for ALL women, regardless of age, race, background, gender identity, and abilities. Instead, we encourage women to embrace their individuality and uniqueness. It’s the core belief of our company—we celebrate you for you.
We believe that loving your skin and loving yourself go hand in hand, and our goal is to offer skincare products that provide a strong connection between the two—empowering individuals on a journey to self-love. It’s at the heart of our business, constantly sharing self-love tips on every product to align back to our overarching message: Love your body. Love yourself.”
What’s your most popular item that you sell and why?
“The Hydrate Rose Hydrating Oil is our most popular item. The Rose Hydrating Oil is an infusion of rosehip seed oil, vitamin E oil, and tamanu oil, which treats acne scars and repairs the skin—leaving it moisturized all day. Our customers love the natural ingredients and how much moisture it provides, especially in the winter months.”
What has surprised you the most since starting your company?
“I am continually surprised by the amount of love we have received as a brand in the past two years. We have grown so much in such a short amount of time, and the momentum is continuing.
For me personally, I have surprised myself with the steps I have taken as an entrepreneur. I pushed myself in new directions, as well as made some hard decisions.”
What’s a lesson you’ve learned as a founder?
“I have learned to always expect the unexpected. Anything can happen in the digital retail world—from someone with a large following posting your brand to days when your brand doesn’t perform as well. Plan for the good and bad, and try to be as prepared as possible. It’s a roller coaster ride, so you have to be ready for anything!”
What can we expect in the future for Agrestal Beauty?
“We have a few exciting things in the works for this next year, and we are continuing to build upon the momentum and grow our business and community. Look out for some new product launches that target different skincare concerns with fresh, organic ingredients.
As a voice in the beauty industry, we also want to advocate for mental health awareness. While there has been more awareness around mental health in the past year, we want to continue this conversation within the beauty industry. With the rise of social media trends promoting unrealistic beauty standards, there needs to be a continued focus on encouraging women to love their individuality.
There’s a unique correlation between skincare and mental health, and we have developed our company to help women begin their own mental health and self-love journey. Although we sell skincare products, we also want to build a community that fosters vulnerability and mental health normalization. We have started a self-love blog on our website that focuses on our community. We want Agrestal to be a safe place for those struggling to share their stories and their truths with the hope that it can encourage others to have honest conversations regarding their challenges. To aid with this process, we plan to partner with online therapy companies to provide mental health support to our customers. Once it is safe to return to normal day-to-day life, we plan to host community events focused on mental health awareness.”
