The treatment that’s popular in Europe has finally made its way to the West Coast. We had the opportunity to test the hype at a newly opened studio, The Tox in Los Angeles. So what exactly is a lymphatic drainage massage? The Tox explains, “the Master Tox is a drainage method that helps improve health and free flowing of the lymphatic system. Our proprietary method moves fluid toward lymph nodes in the body while incorporating different techniques from around the world.”
The blend of Japanese ampuku and European and Brazilian cellulite massage promotes myofascial release that detoxifies the body (and mind), resulting in an overall leaner look.
The detoxifying process starts with firm strokes to stimulate each lymph node, which basically feels like a deep tissue massage. Then the therapist begins to focus on areas of the body, starting with the legs. This “slimming” cream is massaged onto the focused area before a vacuum therapy machine is used. This device drains fluids from your body, and you can see (and feel) the results instantly. Before treating your other leg, the masseuse will take pictures so you can see the difference, and if you lift your drained leg you can feel the *subtle* but effective change. Some people can lose inches in just one 60-minute session. Read on for more of the benefits and to see our before and after photos.
