I stay on a relatively clean diet to keep me healthy and feeling my best, save for a few cheat moments sprinkled in. Because balance. But, I also rely on rituals and supplements I take internally that really make a difference in my skin, mood, and energy.
Most mornings, I start things off with my cup of Collagen Vibes, which I helped formulate so it’s a brand that I know I can trust, ingredients-wise. I do it on an empty stomach for maximum benefits and kick-start my protein intake for the day (it has nine grams of protein in it). This not only helps me recover from workouts easier, but I’ve personally noticed a major difference in my skin, hair, and nails due to the hyaluronic acid and vitamin C in this blend. It tastes so good.
Since our VP collagen is no longer available, you can sub in this one.
After I give this some time to sink in, I love a cup of my favorite apple tea. It’s so grounding and warming, and it tastes a little like Christmas, even in the middle of summer. It’s an amazing way to reduce and prevent inflammation and bloating, and it’s like a jump for my metabolism before my workout.
Post-workout, I blend a protein powder with MCT oil to feed my brain. I need to be “on” all the time, and it gives me lots of energy to run around with my kids and get to everything I need to check off my list for the day. I also add Blue Majik E3Live, which has a ton of minerals and added protein, and is known to help keep up your brain function.
I also add magnesium in trace minerals in my water each day, which is important because most people are magnesium deficient. It helps calm anxiety, and it’s especially important if I’ve had an extra hard workout to replenish minerals lost. It’s great in the evenings to relax my mind and soothe muscle cramps, too.
Hydration is key for me: I’m constantly sipping on something in an effort to never let myself get dehydrated. Drinking alkaline water or spiking my filtered water with minerals or liquid chlorophyll makes me feel like I’m multitasking by staying hydrated while also getting important nutrients my body needs and can’t always get from food. Later in the day, to get digestion ready before dinner and curb afternoon snack cravings, I’ll often mix a little apple cider vinegar into my water. It’s alkalizing, and this brand even has some added probiotics.
As far as vitamins or pill supplements, I take the Cellular Vitality multivitamin pack, but I remove the fish oil. I understand those omegas are important, but they don’t agree with my body personally, so I just rely on food to get those important fats. I also take a daily dose of vitamin C.
If I’m feeling like I’m coming down with something or I’m a little depleted, I’ll drink coconut water for an electrolyte boost and take an extra packet of vitamin C. I also make sure to take a spoonful of Beekeeper’s Naturals B Powered Honey. It’s the best honey out there. It’s truly medicine and tastes amazing! I really try to take the natural route, and I don’t ever take aspirin or anything like that.
Finally, in the evenings I chill out with an adaptogenic tea. I save this for after the kids are in bed and it’s truly “me time” where I can take a salt bath or just relax with a good book or movie. I usually mix the tea with warm water, but if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll mix it with some coconut or almond milk. It’s seriously the best nightcap.
