We fell head over heels for Kourt’s wedding makeup look, and called up her makeup artist Leah Darcy and asked her to break it down for us. “For Kourt’s wedding look, we kept it simple and timeless,” Leah says. “Not too heavy on the skin; just enough to look flawless in photos. On the eyes, we went a bit smoky in the crease and lighter on the lids, with a touch of liquid liner for a classic look … We completed the look with our signature ’90s nude lip, using a taupe liner to contour topped with a creamy nude lipstick.”
OFC, we wanted to know even more, so we asked her to share her best wedding makeup tips. Peep them below.
1. Time your skin treatments right
“Make sure to do all of your stronger skin treatments (lasers, peels, etc) at least two weeks before your wedding day to allow your skin to heal and purge any impurities or breakouts. Avoid trying out any new skincare products or treatments close to wedding day, especially if you have sensitive skin, as it may cause breakouts.”
“I like to keep a bucket of ice (made from purified water preferably) and a clean, damp washcloth to help depuff and cool off the skin prior to skin prep,” Leah says. “I find this also helps to calm nerves a bit.” She adds that you can also use ice globes or even cold teaspoons.
To finish off Kourt’s wedding eye makeup, Leah used a combination of false lashes. “I love using individual lashes because they’re almost undetectable and make it easy to layer and customize,” she says. “For a little more drama, I cut pieces of a strip lash and layered the pieces throughout.”
4. Choose waterproof formulas
“Waterproof everything! Mascara, lipstick, and even brows. Make Up For Ever has a great line of waterproof products that are used by professionals, and they’re super long-lasting.”
5. Have a mini touch up kit
“Mini touch-up kits are a must,” Leah says. “In mine I like to keep pressed powder, lip liner, lip gloss, Q-tips, tissue, blotting papers, toothpicks, mints, and a mascara spoolie.”
