Kourtney is always touching base with her doc, because she knows that her needs, goals, and body is constantly in flux—just like the rest of us. She often tailors her supplement lineup to align with how she’s feeling; what new workouts, foods, or cleanses she’s following; and how to meet certain intentions and biomarkers. Here’s what’s on rotation as of late:
OvaVite Preconception Prenatal Vitamin
If you’ve been tuning into the show on Hulu, you’ll know Kourt hasn’t been shy about wanting to conceive. Every morning on an empty stomach, Kourt takes three of these prenatal capsules. With their specific vitamins and minerals, these are what’s right for her body in this stage of preparation. Consider it a multivitamin, tailored to her goals right now.
Another supplement Kourt takes before eating in the morning is this methylfolate by Thorne. It’s a highly absorbable active form of vitamin B (also known as folic acid) that the tissues can use immediately. It helps to support heart, blood, and brain health by helping to regulate serotonin, melatonin, dopamine, and epinephrine. Folic acid is very important before and during early pregnancy to facilitate a healthy conception.
These probiotics are typically recommended by a functional nutritionist or a doctor, which is how Kourt heard of them. She takes these in the morning and in the evening (as recommended by her doctor for her personal needs, specifically) to facilitate optimal digestion of all her nutrient-dense meals and to make sure she is absorbing everything she needs in her mostly plant-based diet.
Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA
Prenatal DHA, Strawberry
These prenatal DHA capsules are a type of Omega-3 from fish oils, and are important for immune function, brain health, and nervous system support for mothers and developing babies.
Kourt also takes R-Lipoic Acid by Thorne— a powerful and versatile antioxidant to boost skin, liver, nerve, and eye health. It plays a major role in our cells’ production of energy, making it not only an antioxidant but an effective coenzyme (meaning it spurs a reaction—in this case, energy production).
Berbercap (again, Kourt’s go-to brand of the moment is Thorne) is a natural herbal supplement that she takes both in the morning and at dinner. It’s considered an alkaloid, a plant with a nitrogen atom that has antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. It’s ideal for maintaining healthy GI tract function, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels.
Liposomal NAD+ Platinum
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, aka NAD, is a super powerful compound that helps with gene expression, DNA repair, cellular metabolism, and so much other good stuff. It’s basically a potent supplement for graceful aging and longevity, and the Quicksilver Scientific brand that makes the NAD+ Platinum that Kourt takes is in liposomal liquid form, making it super bioavailable for her body.
Of course, these supplements are highly customized to Kourtney’s needs, so take this as more of a nice-to-know than a do-this. But some of these supplements may be right for you depending on your goals, and we recommend chatting with your doctor about your needs to see if they align.
