If you did your full-on glam for the day, bravo to you. Bonus points for you if you made it all day with minor touch-ups and found your way to your bathroom to remove all your makeup. Not a great habit if you didn’t, but we get it—it happens from time to time.
Now that we’re back to applying makeup on the regular (well, more than we were during the pandemic), it’s time to give our removal process a refresher. In today’s Poosh-approved beauty tips, we’re breaking down three different ways to effectively wash away the day’s worth of foundation, mascara, and coverup products. From the double cleanse method to the magic solution that supports sensitive skin and removes makeup, keep reading to find out which process best fits your skincare routine and needs.
1. Double cleanse.
Start with an oil cleanse to wipe away makeup. Here’s a refresher on Kourt’s specific oil cleansing method. Using a warm face cloth, massage the cleanser onto your face and gently rub the makeup off. Be sure to use soft strokes around your eyes to not tug at your lashes. Rise your face and then repeat until all your face is makeup-free.
2. Micellar water, then cleanse.
Our CCO, Sarah Howard, used to only use this method of makeup removal—Bioderma Crealine H20, which is incredible for sensitive skin. Apply on a cotton or reusable round and swipe on the face. Then use your go-to cleanser to wash off any remaining residue.
3. Halo makeup remover tools.
Ditch your disposable face wipes for these non-toxic reusable rounds. Each Face Halo replaces 500 single-use makeup wipes. Simply add water, gently remove makeup, wash, and reuse. They even have finger ones designed to reach the delicate areas of the face like around your eyes. You can also use them in place of a Q-tip when you’re applying makeup and need to make an adjustment.
