Just because summer leaves, it doesn’t mean summer has left you.
Your hair goes through a lot during the summer months, from excess chlorine or saltwater to long days under the sun. While it’s almost always worth it, it can be a struggle to get your strands back to peak health.
That’s where hair expert Nicole Leal comes in. Founder of Sunday School Hair Education and hairstylist to celebs including Rebel Wilson, Nicole knows a thing or two about bringing life back to hair.
Below, she shares her five best tips on how to revitalize your hair after a whirlwind summer.
“Not a trim. It’s probably been at least three months since your last cut, and it’s had a full summer of sun exposure on top of extra heat from fighting frizz. Time to cut off all the dry ends and start from scratch with a healthy hair routine.”
2. Detox with a detox shampoo.
“It’s really important to remove impurities on the hair to avoid dullness and allow color to absorb evenly. Also, if you’re swimming in pools often, removing chlorine is a must. It can dramatically affect color and dry out the hair.”
“Resetting the overall tone of your hair is sometimes all you need. It naturally lightens from the sun, and sometimes, low lighting isn’t enough. I love starting the prep work by adding depth and shine to my clients’ color when moving into fall.”
“Hair treatments are always a must and shouldn’t apply just to summer. But if there’s ever time to buy one, this is it. Treatments are important to maintaining hair health and can extend the shelf life of a haircut.”
5. Invest in supplements that support healthy hair growth.
“I can’t say enough about the difference I see in the hair growth of clients who take them as opposed to those who don’t. Rebooting your hair starts from the inside, and it’s always one of my recommendations when a client wants to get on the healthy hair path.”
