Volume, shine, and … more volume. All the ways we want our hair to be described, right? While some people naturally have a mane that’s straight out of a salon, others (raises hand) have to put in a bit more effort to achieve luscious locks. If you’re going through a damaged hair phase, first take your diet and stress levels into consideration. Both factors play a major role in the health of your hair. Eat foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids and do your best to lower stress in your life—always easier said than done, we get it.
Aside from these lifestyle shifts, we’re sharing six habits to add to your haircare routine to have your best tresses yet. From updating your pillowcases to protect your strands to buying the right tools to style a no-heat blowout look, read on to learn and shop the essentials for healthy, glossy, and covetable hair this year.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, make the switch to silk pillowcases. It’s OK to be picky with the products you use in the shower—in fact, we recommend it, and clean shampoo and conditioner are the way to go. Using safe options free of fragrance, sulfates, and parabens means you’re nourishing your hair (from the scalp to the tips) without any hidden irritants that could potentially cause brittle and dull strands in the long run. Try this dermatologist-approved set that’s great for all hair types.
Hair Mask Creamy Deep Conditioner

Bread Beauty Supply
Kourt often incorporates this DIY avocado mask into her beauty routine to hydrate and nourish her hair. The four-ingredient concoction will feed your hair with nutrients needed for smoother, shinier, and stronger locks. If you’re not feeling a DIY moment, you can also opt for a deep conditioning leave-in mask, like this one from Bread Beauty. It’s creamy, clean, and packed with moisturizing superfruits like Australian kakadu plum and starflower. Add either hair mask ritual to your weekly upkeep regimen for best results.

Style with non-heat rollers
Velcro Hair Rollers
Price: $25
Luxy
After you’ve allowed your hair to air dry, use the no-heat method to achieve incredible volume. Yes, we’re talking about the viral velcro rollers. This part is truly the key to covetable hair. While the above habits help with maintaining healthy hair from your roots to your tips, this styling hack is what will give you that bouncy ’90s-inspired blowout look.
There are several techniques floating around social media, but here’s our go-to method (which really comes down to the front pieces). Use the rollers to curl the back of your hair (secure each roller with a soft grip clip). Once you get to the front, brush the section forward so all your hair is covering your face, and then break the hair into three to four sections (depending on how thick your hair is). Take the section that’s farthest from your face and roll from your ends to the root. Be sure to roll toward your face so when the curl is released it will give a nice bounce. Repeat this step on the remaining front sections (using the same clips to keep the rollers in place). Leave the non-heat rollers in while you finish your makeup so they can fully set and then simply remove them right before you’re ready to leave the house.
Press button to fill dropper. The dropper is designed to only dispense about 10 drops at time. Apply in small drops to edges, thinning areas, or entire scalp.
