Hello again, dear friend Anonymous. Welcome back to our sex talk column. Today we’re here to talk about an underrated pleasure point: the clitoral legs.
First off, it should be mentioned that “neglecting the clitoris is a major reason for the orgasm gap. Only 65% of heterosexual women report orgasming during sex, compared to 95% of heterosexual men,” says Marla Renee Stewart, MA, a sexologist for Lovers.
Hate this for us.
The clit is a bit like an iceberg—what you see on the top is only the, ahem, tip. The clitoris actually extends internally as well, leaving a lot of untapped territory. “Becoming aware of the large network of nerves that make up the clitoris is important for your personal orgasm power,” she says. She adds that discovering and stimulating various clitoral areas can help close the orgasm gap.
Enter: crura, aka the clitoral legs.
On the inside, the clitoris looks like an upside-down Y. The body is right behind the glans (external part of the clitoris), and the legs (crura) branch off from there and surround the vaginal wall. Between the crura and vaginal wall are the vestibular bulbs, which swell when you become aroused.
To stimulate this area, first “focus on exploring the inner to outer labia,” Marla says. “To explore stimulating this area without a vibrator, try a sensual, erotic massage, using gentle pressure and rubbing in a circular or up-and-down motion,” she says.
Ofc, vibrators can be helpful as well. Maria says that a wand-style vibe works well and likes the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2, as you can place the legs of the vibrator on the outside of your outer vaginal lips, which helps stimulate the internal part of the clitoris.
“Locating the clitoral legs on your body and stimulating them allows you to become more self-aware and empowered regarding where your pleasure zones lie and the various sensations that different areas of your body bring about,” Marla says.
“Paying more attention to the clitoral legs can enhance intimacy with a partner as well. Understanding that the clitoral legs can provide you with unique sensations of pleasure and discussing this with a partner can improve foreplay and intercourse and even enable powerful blended orgasms,” she says.
Please and thank you.
