When I was growing up, my family had a magical healing heating log that was a gift from my grandmother, who got it from the local farmers market. It was shaped like a long burrito and filled with mystery ingredients—possibly a mixture of herbs and dried beans. It had a soft, sock-like texture that conformed perfectly to the body. We warmed it in the microwave, and it had a weird yet oddly comforting aroma.
I loved that thing for any and every ailment.
Headache? Give me the heating log. Cramps? Heating log. Tummy ache? You know what I’m going to say. Hell, I’d use it even if there was nothing wrong.
Then we moved, the magical log got lost in the shuffle, and I’ve been trying to replace it ever since. I’ve tried hot water bottles, plug-in heating pads, fanny pack-looking rechargeable contraptions—I’m quite the heating pad connoisseur.
I had been eyeing the Heat Healer Body Belt for over a year, but couldn’t quite commit. I was worried it would just be another addition to my collection of not-quite-right heating pads. Could it really be as good as other Poosh team members were saying? No shade, but I’m a connoisseur, remember?
So when I say this belt is worth every penny, I don’t say it lightly. It combines three modalities: far infrared, red LED light, and PEMF to help ease aches and pains, rejuvenate skin, and aid recovery.

For those of you new to the science, here’s a quick refresher:
- Infrared heat comes from infrared light. We can’t see this type of light, but we feel it as heat. It penetrates deep into the skin and may help reduce inflammation, enhance circulation, alleviate pain, and promote relaxation.
- Red light is similar to infrared light/heat, but we can see it. Red light therapy uses low levels of this light to help reduce inflammation and tension, boost circulation, and stimulate collagen production
- PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) is a type of therapy that uses pulsed electromagnetic currents to help promote healing.
My Heat Healer Body Belt Review:
As the name suggests, it’s a belt that you can wrap around pretty much any part of your body. The ends stick together with velcro, so the size is adjustable. (It also comes with an extension piece.)
The inner surface of the belt has eight red LED lights, as well as 44 vertical pockets filled with negative ion beads and crystals (like black tourmaline and clear quartz) that evenly distribute the heat and help amplify the infrared light.
The remote control is attached to the power cord. This may seem like a small detail, but as a person who asks her husband, “Have you seen my phone?” five times a day, this is very important for me. I also appreciate the big buttons with icons, which make it super intuitive to adjust the temperature and time.
One thing I will note: The remote makes a somewhat loud beep when you change the settings and when the time is up. It’s not a deal-breaker by any means, but I’ve found that keeping the remote under something like a blanket muffles the sound.
I use it almost every day, even when there’s no obvious reason. It heats up super fast, but it doesn’t get uncomfortably hot like other heating pads. It feels incredibly soothing.
My husband is also a fan. When he pulled a muscle in his back, I coaxed him into trying the belt (read: made him think it was his idea). He noticed a huge difference in his pain level after just one session. The downside is now, I have to share.
I find it really eases my aches and pains from—you know—being hunched over my computer all day. It’s also deeply relaxing as part of my nighttime routine. I’m not great at sleeping, and I definitely think this helps me relax and fall asleep faster. But tbh, it’s great any time of day.
(I’m actually wearing it right now as I type this. Bonus: I’ve even started using the beep as my reminder to get up and drink some water.)
