The airport—and by extension, airplanes—are a lawless land. There’s drinking at 7 a.m., at least one person is watching a movie on their phone without headphones, and a bag of chips costs $21. Combine that with sitting for long periods of time surrounded by lots of strangers, and it all adds up to a stressful experience.
Rachel Hirsch, cofounder of Empowered Yoga in LA, recently shared with us five moves to do before getting on a long flight. To bring things round trip, so to speak, she’s now sharing the best moves to do after a flight.
But they’re not just for flyers—these stretches are just as helpful after long car rides, train trips, or really any situation that leaves your body stiff and sluggish.
“These five post-plane, energizing moves shake up the body and help you recover from the intensity of a long airplane ride,” she says.
