The Goop x Poosh candle was officially introduced to the world on tonight’s episode of The Kardashians. This has been months in the making between Kourt and Gwyneth, and we’re so excited that we can finally dish on the details—especially because the collaboration is about so much more than the candle.
“I love that we’re using this collab as an opportunity to share the message that there’s space for everyone in the health and wellness community and that we don’t have to pit women and their brands against each other,” Kourt told us. “The wellness community focuses on sharing positive information that can help make people’s lives better, so I believe there is space, and actually a need, for anyone who contributes and believes in this cause. I’ve always supported and look up to Gwyneth for paving the way for wellness-focused lifestyle brands like mine, and I am so happy that we were able to work on a project together, and I hope that there’s more to come!”
In a recent Instagram story teasing the collab, Gwyneth said that she used to fall prey to thinking women need to be in competition with each other. When we asked her what changed her mindset, she explained: “Time, experience, and hard, internal work. It’s easy to fall into a pattern of comparison, to mistakenly believe that someone else’s success is a negative reflection on your own abilities. But in truth, we all have individual paths. I invest in a lot of businesses, and we support a lot of female-founded businesses on Goop. Watching these women rise up and gain real market share has been one of the true joys in my life.”
Named This Smells Like My Pooshy, the candle is both playful and sexy, with notes of black gardenia, geranium, green pepper, Timur berry, honeysuckle, ylang-ylang, and oak moss. “We have a few candles in the ‘This Smells Like My … ’ family, so this felt like a natural fit—a fun and cheeky way to incorporate Poosh,” Gwenyth told us. “Scents are so powerful and can set the tone for your home, your mindset, the way you approach your day. This is the most floral scent we’ve worked on, and given the impetus for creating this candle, I love that it’s so overtly feminine.”
Kourt went to the Goop offices so that she and Gwyneth could pick the final scent together. “Gwyneth was such a gracious host when we visited the Goop offices. She’s such an engaged conversationalist, and she really embodies the idea of being generous with your energy and supportive of other brands and people around you, which is something my family and I have always tried to do,” Kourt told us. “We were only supposed to meet for 30 minutes, but we ended up talking for almost two hours, and I realized we have so much in common—even beyond our mutual love of health and wellness. It was really cool to hear her perspective and chat on a personal level about everything from our brands to our favorite wellness practices and even beyond, to relationships and our experiences in the public eye. It was also amazing to tour her beautiful office and see what she’s built. She really has an eye for her brand and for bringing it all to life.”
“I really hope it shows people that women are stronger together, and we have to stop accepting this narrative that women with similar interests or in similar fields are in competition,” Kourt told us. “It’s such a better message to join forces, especially when you have so much in common with someone.”
