How to Throw a Helluva Friendsgiving on a Budget

Hosting a Friendsgiving is all exciting and cheerful until you’re too focused on the table’s aesthetic and decor and you forget to boil the water when the theme is pasta night. Speaking from experience, right when you think you have it all planned down to the playlist and seating chart, something comes up and all of a sudden you’re 30 minutes off schedule and your pasta is mush. Pastagiving fail pretty much sums up my first Friendsgiving hosting experience, but with one year under my belt, I’ve now learned a few tips to make the day or evening go as smoothly as possible.

First things first, set the table the night before so it’s one less thing to think about when you’re prepping the food day of. Next, have a checklist of everything timed out for the day—sounds crazy, but the more prepared the better. Believe me, this makes for a less chaotic morning, and you can actually enjoy the cooking process rather than scramble trying to do too many things at once.
