5-MINUTE HABITS That Lead to A Happier Life

Happiness is subjective. Everyone defines what it means to lead a rewarding life differently. There are certain acts that you can incorporate into your daily life that are universal as far as increasing your level of happiness. We compiled a list of five-minute-and-under habits that will help you live your best life.

Morning to-dos

Make your bed
We know you’ve heard this more than once, but making your bed in the morning gives you a sense of accomplishment at the start of your day. It’s the little victories for us.

Squad check
Friendly reminder to check in on your friends. Send a funny meme, or shoot an “I miss you, let’s catch up soon,” text. It doesn’t take much to show someone you’re thinking about them. This mindfulness practice will not only keep you updated with your close circle, but you’ll be able to vent and banter back and forth during the convo. It’s a great way to share your ups and downs and to have someone hold you accountable. If you don’t have time in the morning, you can save this one for whenever it fits into your schedule.

Affirmations
Write down “I am” affirmations in your Law of Attraction Journal. After each affirmation say what you wrote out loud. By doing this you are slowing down your thoughts, focusing on one at a time, and processing what you say differently. Almost as if you’re triggering your affirmation into effect in your mind, leaving you mentally prepared for the tasks you have to do to achieve that affirmation and have it manifest itself in your life!

Essential oils
Turn on your diffuser and mindfully take a whiff of your favorite essential oil. Fun fact: lavender will allow for a tense-free start for what’s ahead of you while the smell of rosemary will aid your memory for the day.

Five-minute stretch and tone
We’ve talked about the importance of incorporating a five-minute sweat session here. This will leave you feeling confident and strong. Don’t forget to thank your body for all that it does for you.

Midday to-dos

Eat your favorite fruit
Be real, when was the last time you were mad while eating a strawberry?

Dance for a bit
When Ciara says, “This beat is automatic, supersonic, hypnotic, funky fresh (ha),” we know that you already know what to do. Dancing is simple if you just let go of all of your inhibitions. OK, maybe not a dance as complicated as the one-two step, but you get the idea!

Daydream and doodle
Embrace your inner child by getting lost in a daydream. Doodle in a notebook while doing this and it will instantly take you back to middle school.

Music
Listen to a song that gives you inspiration or pumps you up. Insider tip: be on the lookout for a new Poosh playlist coming your way just in time for your Labor Day plans.

Evening to-dos

Give yourself a scalp massage
Physically release the tension that you carry on your head.

Schedule an at-home skincare session
Put your favorite face mask to work with a quick at-home skincare treatment. If you want to add on a few more minutes while you’re masking you can throw on the new anti-acne light shield while your product is setting in.

Call a family member
Reaching out to family that you haven’t spoken to in a while can be extremely comforting. Catch them up on all things you, and vice versa.

Vibe it out
Grab your favorite vibrator and get yourself off before you call it a night.
