It’s time to go with the (fascia) flow.
Fascia is the thin connective tissue that wraps around our organs, bones, blood vessels, nerves, and muscles, helping to hold everything in place. It quite literally creates the shape of our bodies.
Healthy fascia is stretchy and slippery, allowing us to move easily with less pain and with good range of motion. But fascia can become stressed due to things like repetitive movements, a lack of physical activity, and physical and mental trauma. These cause fascia to tighten and become thick, sticky, and painful. When this happens around a muscle, it can form hard, excruciating knots.
Here’s the good news: Fascia can bounce back with proper care. “You’ll feel this nice release of emotional energy. This is affecting your vitality, your emotional wellness. It’s even helping you release trauma and tension,” says Lauren Roxburgh, founder of Aligned Life Studio and expert in all things fascia.
Our wellness editor is a big fan of her free 7-Day Fascia Challenge, so we were thrilled when she was kind enough to create this 5-minute fascia flow for us. In this short video, you’ll learn moves to help break up thickened fascia, hydrate it, and release stuck toxins. The results: less pain, better range of motion, a more efficient metabolism, and better posture.
