DIY Simmer Pot Recipe

Fall is a time for bad squash puns and everything cozy—and an integral part of reaching peak cozy is the way our home smells. In lieu of lighting candles, we’ve been making simmer pots. It’s super easy; all we have to do is simmer some herbs and spices on the stovetop. Below, we’re sharing one of our favorite simmer pot recipes. It fills our home with a spicy, comforting scent that makes everyone exclaim, “Oh my gourd!” Plus, it can also be drunk as tea.

DIY Simmer Pot Recipe

Ingredients:

1-2 sticks organic cinnamon
2-4 whole cloves
1-2 star anises
1” knob ginger, sliced in rounds
1” knob turmeric, sliced in rounds
2-4 cardamom pods
Few black peppercorns
6 cups water

Instructions:

1. Add all the ingredients to a simmer pot or saucepan and bring it to a boil.
2. Reduce the heat and simmer for as long as you want. Check it periodically to see if more water needs to be added.
