The task we all put off for far too long … washing our makeup brushes. Although it’s recommended to clean the tools we use frequently every 7-10 days, we’ll put money on assuming that the project doesn’t make it to the top of everyone’s to-do list (because we’re right there as well). But, a friendly (and slightly alarming) reminder—germs and bacteria build up in the bristles and sponges that we put directly on our skin and can cause breakouts and irritations, so it’s important to give them a little TLC and deep cleanse.
Since we have extra time while we #stayhome, we wanted to share a simple DIY recipe to tackle the beauty assignment. Learn the step-by-step directions below.
3 teaspoons gentle castile soap (or be resourceful and reduce waste by using a face wash you don’t love for your skin)
1/3 cup witch hazel
1 1/2 teaspoons coconut oil
3/4 cup distilled water
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients together and then thoroughly wash and rinse each brush. Then place them out to dry overnight.
