Hi, friend. Poosh here. We heard you asking about your V, wondering if things are kosher down there even if it doesn’t look perfectly porny, or downright doll-like.
Of course, we haven’t seen you naked, but we can almost certainly assure you that your secret garden is as perfect and unique as a flower can—and should—be. To be sure, we asked one of our favorite professionals, Dr. Heather Bartos, MD, OBGYN, and founder of the online sexy self-care hub, The Me Spot, to weigh in on all shapes and sizes.
“Maybe you were shaving one day and wondered, ‘Is that left side hanging lower than the right?’ Or, ‘Are these saggy?’ And then you went straight to ‘Omg my partner looks at that when they go down on me and they must be disgusted.’
“The external female genital area is called the vulva. Let me say, as a professional vulvologist/vaginacologist (it’s gonna catch on, I promise), there is not one normal way for the vulva to look. Normal is just a setting on your dryer, am I right?
“The size, shape, and color of the vulva varies widely, and I mean WIDELY. The labia minora often extend past the labia majora, but it’s also totes okay if they do not. Labia can be uneven in size. All of these differences are expected. It also is typical for the size, shape, and color of the vulva to change during puberty, as you age, and during pregnancy or menopause. Colors, length, width—all of it can change. Even sexual excitement can cause some brief changes!”
We can’t speak for you, but we don’t feel like a setting on a dryer. Who doesn’t love a cute little archetype to identify with? Personally, we’re a Samantha. We’ll let you see what aligns best with you from below:
