You know the phrase thoughts become reality. But did you know there’s actually science behind it? Let me share. There’s a part of our brain called the reticular activating system (RAS), and it filters more than 2 million pieces of data every day, triggering behavioral patterns centered around thoughts and self-beliefs.
If our mind is dominated by self-doubt and negative self-talk, our RAS will do everything in its power to materialize that reality. If we eliminate these common lies we all tell ourselves and replace them with positive new beliefs, then our RAS will help manifest a new reality around us through people, events, and places. It’s so easy to spiral into a hole of self-doubt, but through these simple mantras below, we will be able to shift our mindset.
Ahead, I’m sharing five common lies or thoughts we may tell ourselves and the positive replacements to use instead.

1. The lie we tell ourselves: “You (insert word of choice), why did you do that?”
Instead, replace with this mantra: “I free myself of all judgment. I constantly learn and grow from my mistakes.”
2. The lie we tell ourselves: “I’m not enough.”
Replace with this mantra: “I am enough. I am destined for greatness.”
3. The lie we tell ourselves: “I’m a failure. I always screw up.”
Replace with this mantra: “I acknowledge every mistake as an opportunity to learn and come one step closer to my true potential.”
4. The lie we tell ourselves: “I don’t have time for self-care.”
Replace with this mantra: “My body and mind are a temple where all things are created.”
5. The lie we tell ourselves: “I feel stuck. My life has no purpose.”
Replace with this mantra: “Let’s go! On to the next.”
