This month, to celebrate back-to-school season, we are Pooshing awareness about a very important organization, YourMomCares. YourMomCares helps children by raising awareness and funding for organizations that are focused on children’s mental wellness. YourMomCares is a group of edgy, trailblazing celebrity moms who have come together to ensure that all kids have access to the resources needed to maintain mental wellness. They are using their unique platform to grow their voice and build awareness. These strong, smart women have children who listen and who also feel passionately about the importance of mental stability. Being able to provide services and activities to youngsters that best serve their needs can sometimes be overlooked, and given the climate of today’s society, we are proud to help raise awareness about this very important cause.
It all began with co-founders Sharon Feldstein (Jonah Hill and Beanie Feldstein’s mom) and Patsy Noah (Adam Levine’s mom), who have been best friends since the age of 17. Jonah Hill was up for an Academy Award, and Obama asked Sharon to do a PSA for the Affordable Care Act. Of course, she dragged along her BFF Patsy (among other moms) to join her. Both Sharon and Patsy were inspired by the amazing group of women and leaders involved, and they immediately recognized the power and potential impact in the “Your Mom Cares” concept. Sharon and Patsy received permission from the White House to take ownership of the brand, and #ymc was born.
A few years later, motivated by the many crises unfolding across our country and around the world, Sharon and Patsy knew it was time to take YMC to the next level. They went to moms in their own network to help them define their passionate mission.
Deciding to focus primarily on mental health and wellness, they give most of their funding directly to combat mental health issues and support charities of this nature. For example, they are actively working with the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation in implementing a pilot program of a digital platform that has mental wellness coaches tracking its users (ages 16-26). These users can be prescribed this app like you would a medication from a doctor. Users will have access to mental wellness coaches and mentors on a daily basis. Five hundred students will be participating in this pilot program, and the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation will be collecting data to see what does and doesn’t work for their participants.
We at Poosh are happy to shed some light on this meaningful organization. To celebrate back-to-school season, we are helping YourMomCares launch their Mental Wellness Checklist: 10 easy steps that we as parents can take to check in with our children and make sure they are maintaining healthy habits, keeping communication at the forefront of their key relationships, and more. Check it out below.
Consider downloading and printing the checklist and hanging it in your home where everyone can see it and make discussing things like self-care, time management, personal goal setting, dealing with emotional stress, and nutrition part of your family’s routine:
