I’m back with another acne post (surprise, surprise), but today I’m broaching the massive subject of acne-safe cosmetics. Let’s face it, the last thing we acne-prone girlies need is a foundation or bronzer that’s going to clog our pores, especially after taking so much time and care to make sure our skin routine is safe for our vulnerable skin.
After becoming mildly obsessed with pore-clogging ingredient checkers (I use both the Clearstem and Acne Clinic ones), I pasted in the ingredients of every single cosmetic product I owned and used—foundation, concealer, powder, blush, bronzer, highlighter—and was shocked to discover that 98% of the products I was using contain pore-clogging ingredients.
The part that really irked me? These products are being marketed as acne-safe and non-comedogenic.
I spent hours upon hours researching products and ingredients to find the most effective makeup items that contain zero pore-cloggers. I then tried and tested each of the products on my face for efficacy.
